Roger Zhao

Roger never thought his career would be settled as a business broker. He taught at university before moving to Sydney in 1989 and starting from scratch in Australia. Roger ran a few retailing businesses in Sydney and Melbourne. Although maybe the cross-culture experiences with the life up-down he went through, Roger is passionate about assisting and sharing his knowledge and experiences with his clients once he became a business broker in 2005.

Roger established his own sales team in 2010 and took part in the Benchmark Business Sale team in 2019.

Because business is an intangible asset, Roger is constantly discussing the business valuation with his client, and he wants his client to be well-informed basis on his extensive knowledge.

Roger is good at pointing out “Sale Points” even “a difficulty sale business”. For example, in one café and salad bar in Melbourne CBD, Roger assisted in converting the famous Vietnamese bread roll successfully within four weeks. The vendor said eventually:

“I can only tell you this much I have sold 13 cafes past 14 years and dealt with the top 10 agents of Melbourne, and after employing you, you could create a deal and find suitable purchasers within a concise period. It’s a great quality to have. All the best and stay in touch.” - Ricky

Roger knows how to determine the client’s best interest and guides his clients to drive the ship along the way, creating ideas to add the business value and inform and ultimately allow the business owner to call the shots. For example, one business owner from the import and export industry said to Roger:

“It has been a wonderful experience through this selling process. You have been very professional in conducting the selling. We are pretty happy with the outcome. We thank you for guiding us through the process, especially in difficult COVID-19 situations. We will sincerely pass on your detail to our business friends wishing they selling their business.” - Jake

Keeping transparency and putting himself in the position of seller or buyer, this simple philosophy helps Roger wins clients:

“Thank you very much for your time and sincerity in sharing the information with us, and it opens our eyes and mind to buying the biz. You are very professional and helpful without considering your benefit as a priority. Many of us in this visa need the professional business broker as you. “ - Mandy & Melvin

“Roger understood what we needed and consented, acting very actively. Finally, we got the price we wanted, and the vendor was happy to help us before the handover. We were delighted with the deal. Roger always gave us the information as much as he knew without excuses, even something beyond the business. He is very knowledgeable, act professional and understand people, our relationship has been developed, and we become a friend.” - Michael & Pei

Roger has transferred vast numbers of various businesses from café shops to Grocery stores, from the gift business to the import and export industry. He dislikes seeing the business for sale but makes it to be sold.

Roger has been keeping the endless learning to a pound of professional brokers. He has a recognized bachelor’s degree, is a licensed real estate agent in Victoria, and is a member of AIBB.

Roger has lived in Melbourne with his family for more than 20 years. He loves travelling, reading and writing, music, swimming, Tai Ji and various action sports.
